1 Funeral Wreath

Sorry dear friends for being a tad late on this post. This is a crazy week for me. If only I could clone me... oh what amazing things I could get done!

Here is a fun tutorial that you could use any time of the year...

A letter funeral wreath. The perfect morbid accessory for any haunted home!

Here's what you will need:

-Styrofoam board (I got mine from Home Depot)

-Everything you see in the photo (minus Mr. Spider)

PLUS:

-Needlenose pliers (not shown)

-Jigsaw (not shown)

Here's how:

First, take your styrofoam board and draw out your letter. The board has a plastic film on both sides, DO NOT peel off. Otherwise you'll be stuck with a TON of styro-boogers everywhere.

Cut out letter using your handy-dandy jigsaw and set aside. You'll still have some styro-boogers from cutting, but nearly as much if you took off the lining.

"Oh hello, Mr. Spider".

 Then take several skewers and cut them into about 1 1/2 inches in length. I cut several at a time. Set aside

Also, cut several pieces of electrical tape (about 3") and set aside.

Now take a skewer and wrap the crepe streamer around the end of the skewer a several times. Make it nice and taught.

Then take a small section or crepe, gather it and pinch it. Repeat this process several times until you get the right thickness of crepe paper around the skewer.

***DO NOT allow the crepe paper to spiral down the stick.***

It should look somethinglike this. Trim the end...

take a piece of tape and wind it tightly around the base of your flower. 

Make sure the tape is tightly secured to both the flower and the stick.

Then open up the flower petals to make it all nice and fluffy.

Voila!

You got yourself a fancy little flower!

Set it aside and repeat the process.

Doesn't that look fabulous!

You're going to make quite a bit of flowers depending on how big your letter is. My letter measures about 27" in height and it took about 94 flowers total to cover it.

You might wanna have a bag on the side to stash your flowers as you go along.

Once you've made your flowers, set it aside.

Now grab your letter and the duct tape. Wrap the duct tape all around the edge of your letter.

Make sure to cut slits along the curves so that the tape will lay nice and smooth along the edges.

Oh, hi Stella!

Now that you finished the edges and you have all your flowers done, it's time to join the two.

Take an extra skewer and poke a small hole into the letter where you want your flower to be.

Next, take a flower and with your pliers, grab the base of the flower and push it into the hole. Make sure to push the flower into the styrofaom as far as you can.

It should look like this.

YAY!!! One flower done... a bazillion more to go!

Repeat this process until you have completely covered the entire letter.

Now that it's all done, time to hang it up, take pictures, blog about it and admire.

Oooo! Ahhhh! How fabulously morbid!
